The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as "Coaching is a partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential".
Put simply, it is when we work together, as coach and client, through conversation, the client asks insightful questions to illicit the client's thoughts. The client is then able to identify actions or solutions they decide to undertake to achieve their goal(s).
The use of coaches both within organisations and by individuals continues to rise. In an 2019 ICF survey, over 55% of leaders reported using coaching services. Many of them reported seeing positive impacts across their organisations, not just the people who actually participated in the coaching programmes. This included 70+% increased work performance.
We'll start with a complimentary 'chemistry session', which usually takes 45-60 minutes. This helps us start to get to know each other, build trust and physiological safety in our coaching relationship. We'll talk about how coaching works, your current successes as well as your challenges, and together we'll agree a programme of coaching to suit your needs.
Coaching programmes usually consist of 6 to 8 coaching sessions, usually about 4 weeks apart, although this can change depending on your needs. We can also include short 'check-in' calls in between sessions to check on progress etc.
Coaching sessions usually take approximately 45 to 60 minutes per session.
If coaching is being sponsored by an organisation, then we will also include a regular review session with the sponsor.
Coaching is most successful when the client has trust in their coach and is able to be open and honest in the sessions, and commit to a journey of personal growth.
Agile coaching and training is different to pure coaching, as there is a recognition that not everyone knows or understands agile ways of working, and how this can benefit individuals and organisations. Therefore, we'll start off with a complimentary 'chemistry call', to understand your needs, current levels of agile awareness, the challenges you, your teams or organisation are facing, as well as getting to know each other. We'll talk about different options and approaches available, which may include:
Please note, while we can discuss different agile methodologies, this is not about adopting or shoe-horning a particular agile methodology on to you, but about taking the best of the agile methods and approaches and designing a way of working that works for you, your teams and organisations.
There are many different definitions for mentoring, the one that resonates with me is 'The practice of helping, guiding and supporting a less experienced person over a period of time, as part of a formal programme'. Mentoring is a collaborative relationship between two people, to help guide and promote professional growth. However, unlike coaching, this is done through the Mentor sharing insights, experiences and connections to help guide the Mentee to make the right decisions to grow and develop.
Similar to the coaching offering, we would start with a complimentary 'chemistry session', to enable us to get to know each other, build trust and understand the development needs. If you are being sponsored through your employment, then your manager or sponsor is likely to join this conversation as well.
We'll then agree to a schedule of sessions, although these are likely to be more long term, rather than just a programme of 6 or 8, depending on individual needs and circumstances.
I am able to provide mentoring support for the following areas:
Fees vary depending on the service being provided, whether pure coaching, agility or mentoring and how long we will work together for clients to achieve their goal(s). We can discuss this in more detail during our complimentary chemistry session or please do get in touch for an informal chat.
